Home Décor Inspired by Movies – Modern Bollywood Drama

Have you ever lost out on a movie’s plot because the décor got you distracted with that funky lamp at the corner of the room, or you really like that throw on the couch? Because we have.

Of course, you love that room you see on the big screen. It has all these intricate pieces of décor put together in a careful arrangement by professional art directors. That doesn’t mean it should stop you from dreaming of having that very rug in your own bedroom or that side table in your foyer.

We are happy to bring to your very own homes beautiful décor ideas inspired by the motion pictures. In our first post, we take inspiration from a modern Bollywood movie Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

As the camera pans out of Naina’s bedroom, the movie presents a perfect shot to you. Her bedroom is casual yet youthful. The fabrics bring in the warmth and the colours add a pop of glow.

The style of the room is primarily traditional with soft furnishings used for walls and suspended decoration items. A bit of nature is brought into the room by adding indoor planters next to the window. A beautiful wooden bookshelf is filled out with books of all sorts, definitely adding colours to the room.

For this style, we explore an ethnic genre of furniture and décor items playing with fabrics such as jute, linen and woven ropes.

Going step-by-step in the list of essentials for every bedroom furniture, we explore armchairs, bed benches, rugs, lamps, side tables, beds and bookshelves, then moving on to soft furnishings and decorative pieces like cushions, curtains, rugs and vases.

A jute rug is raw, natural and easy to maintain and the neutrals of the fibres goes with the fabric of the bench and the language is carried on to the cushions. The tripod stands are beautiful, modern yet ethnic and provide ample light for anyone who wants to cozy up into the wing chair with a good book from the simple natural wooden book shelf.

The indoor plants add a hint of green (while improving the air quality in the room, science people!) and semi-shear curtains allow natural light to penetrate into the room. The set of vases introduce a new material to the scheme while adding pops of colour.

Hope we inspired you to re-decorate your room.
